ServiceMaster Superior Cleaning & Restoration and Bob Sorensen in association with the Blue Goose of Westchester volunteered a charity event helping those in need at the Food Bank For Westchester. Last year the Food Bank For Westchester distributed 7.6 million pounds of food, providing 6.3 million meals to hungry people in Westchester County. All food is either donated or purchased by the Food Bank, and as a 501 C3 it does not receive any governmental subsidy or support.
Hungry people in Westchester are not always who you would imagine; they come from all walks of life. Some receive public assistance, but large numbers of hungry people in Westchester are children, seniors and the working poor. Many people do hold down jobs but, no matter how hard they work, they are simply earning too little to feed their families and also pay basic expenses.
Last year 10,100 volunteers donated 26,800 hours to the Food Bank so that others may eat. We at ServiceMaster Superior Cleaning & Restoration are honored to lend our support to this most important and needed charitable institution.
